PUBG Update 43.1 explained: kicks, water surface firefights, LMG Meta Rotation cuts, Jujutsu Kaisen, Career Leaderboards
PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS sits near the top of Steam’s concurrent charts on 24 September 2026, and Softcap’s first PUBG desk piece covers Update 43.1 — the September live build Krafton documented as PC maintenance 10 Sep 00:00–08:30 UTC and console maintenance 17 Sep 01:00–09:00 UTC. Softcap sticks to the official Patch Notes - Update 43.1, the companion PUBG x Jujutsu Kaisen world/store post, and Krafton’s Games Press summary. Softcap is not inventing live concurrent peaks, win-rate math, or unpublished hitreg TTKs.
Primary spine: new Kick melee and water-surface sidearm/throwable rules; a second pass on the LMG Meta Rotation; inventory QoL (carry / throw / instant ground use); Season 43 Ranked reset; Career Leaderboards; and timed Jujutsu Kaisen world dressing that rides the same maintenance window.

What 43.1 is selling
Krafton’s notes frame 43.1 as an Action Update inside the 2026 roadmap: expand choices in situations that used to feel like dead ends — unarmed scrambles, water crossings, full-inventory looting — without rewriting core gunplay. The same drop also dials back the first LMG Meta Rotation after a month of live data, then layers Season 43 Ranked, Arcade returns, and the Jujutsu Kaisen world pass that Softcap covers from the dedicated collab post rather than from store rumor.
Kick: unarmed pressure and breakable props
Kick is available in all modes. Two actions ship: Standing Kick (right-click / console LT while unarmed) and Jump Kick (same input while jumping). The notes say Kick deals more damage and stronger knockback than punches, and it can be rebound in Key Bindings.
Destructible / interact targets called out in the patch notes:
| Target | Published behavior |
|---|---|
| Windows, wooden doors, wooden fences, jars, tires | Destructible with kicks (size/structure caveats) |
| Indestructible doors | Can be opened quickly with a kick (some doors excluded) |
| Vending machines | Kick for faster items; machine damaged and unavailable for a while |
Softcap is not claiming Kick outdamages a sidearm or inventing breakable lists beyond Krafton’s published set.
Water is no longer a pure last resort
Water surface combat (all modes): sidearms and throwables work on the surface, including items in the 3rd slot. Use while stationary; moving with a weapon drawn or diving stows it, then redraws on return to the surface. Hip-fire and ADS are allowed; shoulder fire is not; bullet spread is higher than on land; throwables are overhand only; you can swim slowly while aiming.
Mobility: swimming and diving speed +25%, with direction-based speed tuning and a new surface swim animation.
Boats: overall durability up; firearm damage to all boats standardized at 50%; All-in-One Repair Kit works on the surface (not underwater).
Dev comment in the notes is explicit: water should stay riskier than land — Softcap is not calling it a new primary fight space.
LMG Meta Rotation: second pass after a hot month
Update 42.3 pushed an aggressive first LMG Meta Rotation (including the RPD). 43.1’s developer comment says a month of data showed LMGs hitting the overall environment harder than intended. Published cuts:
| Lever | Published change |
|---|---|
| ADS transition | 0.30 → 0.37 sec for all LMGs |
| Vehicle damage | M249 / RPD 1.1× → 1.0× · MG3 1.25× → 1.1× |
| RPD position recoil help | Standing −10% · Crouch −17% · Prone −27% |
| M249 position recoil help | Crouch −17% · Prone −27% |
| MG3 position recoil help | Standing −15% · Crouch −17% |
| World spawn | RPD and M249 spawn rates −30% |
Base recoil values/patterns stay; Softcap is not inventing DPS tables beyond these published multipliers and percentages.
Carry, throw, and instant ground use
Available in all modes except some Arcade modes:
Carry (H / console LB+X): attachments, heals/boosts, helmets, vests, backpacks, throwables, ammo — one type at a time; stacks use default spawn quantity; carried items take no inventory space.
Throw (left-click / RT while carrying): distance varies by size; thrown items collide with terrain; no player damage on hit. Vehicle entry or drawing a weapon drops the item; knockout / death / swim / vault / climb cancel carry. Crouch, prone, picking up another item, revive/carry teammate, and Emote Wheel are blocked while carrying.
Death boxes: jumping and opening Care Packages now work while carrying a death box; vaulting terrain or switching weapons drops it.
Instant use (hold H / hold LB+X): heals/boosts, Folded Shield, Emergency Pickup, Mortar, C4 — existing use conditions still apply; cancel with F drops the item at your feet; consecutive Bandage stacks work from the ground pile.
Also in the same QoL pass: key guides move left→right; throwable HUD icon when multiple throwables are owned; Folded Shield and Mortar join retrievable deployables; Vehicle Camo Netting deploy/retrieve time reduced; Stun Grenade now respects character facing, not only Free Look camera.
Parachute rebalance
| Situation | Published change |
|---|---|
| Auto-chute after Emergency Pickup | 150 m → 250 m |
| Auto-chute after respawn | 330 m → 250 m |
| Emergency Parachute min deploy height | 10 m → 9 m |
| Deploy button once available | No longer disables mid-fall |
| Early land before full deploy | Fall damage scales with speed |
Season 43, Solo Deathmatch, and Career Leaderboards
Season 43: Ranked leaderboard resets on live maintenance; permanent Tier reward is a Mk14 Ranked Weapon Skin; Duo/Solo Gold+ minimum performance bars rise; Ranked Play Point rewards swap Archivist’s Chests for Contender Cargo Tickets; TPP Duo Ranked in SA is discontinued.
Season 42 tier rewards (permanent skins/medals vs season-locked emblems/nameplates) follow the published Bronze→Survivor table in the notes — Softcap is not reprinting every cosmetic line here.
Solo Deathmatch returns under Play → Arcade (and Custom Match):
| Platform | Service window (UTC) |
|---|---|
| PC | After 10 Sep maintenance → 14 Oct 00:00 |
| Console | After 17 Sep maintenance → 22 Oct 01:00 |
Rules point back to Update 42.2 notes.
Career → Leaderboard consolidates Ranked plus new seasonal boards:
| Board | What it ranks |
|---|---|
| Ranked | Existing RP top 500 · updates every 4 hours |
| Wins | Seasonal wins by mode/map · shows wins, kills, avg damage |
| Kills | Seasonal kills by weapon category / individual gun (Weapon Mastery set, including pistols/throwables) |
| Clan | Seasonal Clan XP · level · Clan Master |
Non-Ranked boards update about hourly; ties break by who hit the record first, then fewer matches. Top-500 finishers from the prior season get a one-time Season Recap on first Leaderboard visit. Beginner Training completion (or mission expiry) is required before ranking participation.
Intense Battle Royale results screens now surface team and individual combat stats with category highlights when a squad is wiped.
PUBG × Jujutsu Kaisen world pass
Softcap’s systems pass on the collab sticks to world features in PUBG x Jujutsu Kaisen — not every cargo probability table:
| World beat | Published detail |
|---|---|
| Starting Island (all maps) | Jujutsu Kaisen Boxes · 20 Mysterious Orbs on entry · 20 hits open a Satoru Gojo statue · Domain Expansion: Infinite Void for 15 s in radius |
| Warehouse (Erangel) | Themed warehouse interiors + new warehouse locations · standees/photo spots · collab vending machines for heals/boosts |
| Care Packages / Airplane | Themed look on all maps |
| Billboards | Erangel Jujutsu Kaisen designs |
| Availability | Normal, Ranked, Casual · world features until the next update (per 43.1 notes) |
Store / Hideout / Crafter Pass / Step Up pack sales windows in the collab post run roughly PC 10 Sep → mid-October and console 17 Sep → late October depending on the product — Softcap is not reprinting G-Coin pack ladders as patch-notes systems.
PC extras, console hitboxes, presets
(PC) Duo Rumble: AS / EU / NA · 12 Sep after maintenance → 14 Oct before maintenance · five Saturday stages (20:00–24:00 local server time) · pre-made Duo crews · maps random among Erangel, Taego, Miramar, Rondo · ranking from placement + survival + kill points on top 3 matches · ranking rewards up to 10,000 G-Coin plus 2,000 BP participation.
(PC) Upscaling: NVIDIA DLSS 4.5 and AMD FSR 4.1 under Settings → Graphics → Advanced when Anti-Aliasing is Medium/High/Ultra.
(Console only): character hitboxes enlarged/fine-tuned for more forgiving detection; weapon damage, RoF, and recoil unchanged.
Customize: preset slots 5 → 10 across Character, Contender Room, and Starting Island Inventory.
Misc notes also strengthen penalties for abnormal play (no rewards / progression on flagged matches) and ship a long Miramar/Taego/UX bug list Softcap is not auditing line-by-line here.
What Softcap is not claiming
- Softcap is not publishing inventing concurrent-player charts beyond Steam’s public most-played ranking at research time.
- Softcap is not rewriting LMG TTK or console aim-assist math beyond Krafton’s published ADS, vehicle, spawn, and hitbox lines.
- Softcap is not endorsing Jujutsu Kaisen cargo odds or Step Up packs as gameplay balance — those sit in the collab store post.
- Softcap is not covering every UGC / skin clipping fix in the Misc section.
Update 43.1 is live on both PC and console windows as of Softcap’s 24 Sep desk pass. Primary sources remain Update 43.1 patch notes and PUBG x Jujutsu Kaisen.
