FFXIV Crucible Rankings Season 1 postponed: Beastmaster balance holds the ladder

Thursday, 24 September 2026 was the Lodestone date printed for Season 1 of Crucible Rankings in FINAL FANTASY XIV’s Patch 7.56 notes. That calendar day arrived with the ladder still dark: Square Enix has postponed the start of Season 1 until Beastmaster combat balance and related mechanics issues are addressed, and ranking scores stay unavailable in-game until a new start date is announced.

Softcap’s beat today is the Confirmed delay plus the systems the delay is protecting — limited job Beastmaster, solo duty Crucible of the Unbroken, third-degree ranking eligibility, and the published Season 1 reward cutoffs.

What Square Enix said about the delay

The Lodestone postponement post is short and absolute. Since Beastmaster’s release, the team says many players have been enjoying the limited job and its challenges — and that the desk has also taken considerable feedback on Beastmaster’s combat balance, plus reports of issues with certain gameplay mechanics, which it is working to address.

Published fairness line: if rankings began under those conditions, it would be difficult to tell whether results reflect the intended balance of the job and its mechanics, which would impact the fairness of the ranking process. For those reasons, Square Enix made the “difficult decision” of postponing Season 1.

Follow-ups Confirmed in that post:

  • Resolving issues and addressing feedback is a top priority
  • An announcement will follow when a Season 1 start date is decided
  • Crucible Ranking scores remain unavailable in-game until that date lands

Softcap is not inventing which Beastmaster actions are under review, exploit lists, or a revised start week — none of that appears in the Lodestone delay note.

Patch 7.56’s original Season 1 calendar

The 7.56 notes — and the rankings page — still describe the intended season shape. Softcap reprints that framing as the pre-delay plan, not as a live start:

  • Season One was scheduled to begin Thursday, 24 September 2026
  • It would last until the release of Patch 7.58
  • Preseason would follow, temporarily blocking ranking participation
  • Season Two would begin after a preseason window
  • Season start/end times are subject to change — the notes themselves flag a postponement update dated Thursday, 17 September 2026, 1:30 a.m. (PDT)

The Lodestone rankings hub mirrors that: Season 1 runs “to Patch 7.58,” with standings updated daily once the season is live, and start/end clocks shown in PST.

Beastmaster: limited job, level 50 cap

Beastmaster shipped in 7.56 as XIV’s second limited job after Blue Mage. Lodestone / job-guide Confirmed framing:

  • Melee DPS that forges pacts with familiars and fights in tandem
  • Shares gear with Monk and Samurai
  • No corresponding class; starts at level 1, caps at level 50
  • Unlock quest Strangers in the Wood — Excited Adventurer, New Gridania (X:11.8 Y:13.6), Disciple of War or Magic level 50, after main scenario quest The Ultimate Weapon
  • Requires Dawntrail registration for the expansion-gated package (Patch 7.56 expansion notations)

Limited-job constraints Softcap reprints from the notes / job guide (not Softcap house rules):

  • No role actions
  • Greater FATE experience than other jobs (unlike Blue Mage, no open-world enemy EXP bonus)
  • Preformed / unrestricted parties allowed for many duties; blocked from Duty Roulettes, Eureka / Bozja / Occult Crescent / Variant & Criterion / Ultimates, Squadron Missions, Deep Dungeons, PvP (including duels), Stone Sky Sea, Hall of the Novice
  • Only job quests and all-job quests while on Beastmaster
  • Retainers cannot be assigned Beastmaster

Capture, bestiary, combat loop

Published pact flow:

  1. Gauge (level 1) — assesses whether a pact can be forged and how hard it may be
  2. Capture (level 1) — applies a status; defeat the beast while that status is active to forge the pact
  3. Weakening the target before Capture increases success chance; some attempts can still fail
  4. Successful pacts enter the Master’s Bestiary (Character menu / Lodestone profile)

Kornago Gourds forge pacts without combat. Players exchange remnants of resilience for gourds; the variety expands with job-quest completion.

Battlehorns summon one assigned familiar at a time. Combat accrues TP for beastmaster and familiar; at 100+ TP, instinctual skills open Inner Compass combos (Volant / Rampant / Durant / Eldritch affinities). Tempered Release orders a familiar’s unique attack; Borrow draws familiar power into a separate beastmaster action. Softcap leaves potency tables to the live job guide — the Lodestone notes do not reprint a full DPS sheet.

Crucible of the Unbroken: the solo board

The Crucible is a Beastmaster-exclusive solo training duty: a magicked board where spaces host different happenings, and clearing the innermost boss finishes the board. Unlock sits at Beastmaster level 30 via the job-quest chain; entry NPC is in the Central Shroud (X:21.9 Y:22.8) (quest NPC coordinates for Into the Crucible: X:22.9 Y:19.1 on the job guide).

Systems Softcap reprints from Lodestone / job guide:

SystemPublished rule
Team compositionFamiliar allowance varies by board; Manual pick or Recommended Team; Board Layout shows foe weaknesses
HPPlayer and familiars have separate HP that does not naturally regenerate
Snarl / ChallengeSnarl puts Cover on a familiar (draw enmity); Challenge pulls enmity to you and removes Cover
Ephemeral itemsBoard-only; lost on clear/fail
Crucible itemsUp to 10; one granted at board start; hotbar-assignable
Beast gearUp to 10 unique pieces; perpetual while carried; one at start
FeedBuffs familiars; no duplicate feed types; campsite rest clears feed effects
ScoreSpaces traversed, remaining player HP, other factors + optional bonuses
RemnantsFaded / bright remnants of resilience by score → Kornago merchant, Central Shroud (X:21.9 Y:22.6)
Familiar growthCrucible EXP → beast rank (max 25); Strength / Intelligence / Phys/Mag Resist / Constitution
Suspend / forfeitSuspend between/cleared spaces; forfeit outside battle still pays score-based rewards

Degrees and ranking eligibility

After clearing all boards and progressing the job quests, Crucible Mode unlocks challenge degrees: First, Second, and Third. Degrees raise enemy HP and damage dealt and pay larger score bonuses.

Ranking eligibility is stricter than “any clear”:

  • Scores must be recorded on the player’s Home World
  • Rankings aggregate per physical data center
  • Eligible runs require Third Degree and the Participate in rankings checkbox
  • Ranking score compiles from the last three attempts of each board
  • Current ranking score is viewable at the Central Shroud Crucible NPC when rankings are active

That third-degree gate is exactly why Square Enix’s fairness argument matters: the ladder only samples the hardest published mode.

Season 1 rewards (still the published ladder prizes)

The Lodestone Crucible Rankings page lists Season 1 end-of-season rewards delivered by moogle delivery service per physical data center. Softcap reprints the published cutoffs; tie rules may change how many rewards ship.

Placement (per physical DC)Reward
1stAchievement Beast of the Best
1st–100thAchievement Running Feral
1st–300thAchievement Crucible Contender + mount Tourmaline Golem (Tourmaline Golem Horn)

Lodestone note: the Tourmaline Golem mount is rewarded upon obtaining Crucible Contender. Rankings update daily once the season is live; scores aggregate from the last three attempts of each board.

What still ships around the paused ladder

The delay freezes ranking scores, not the entire 7.56 package. Softcap’s Confirmed leftovers from the same patch notes:

  • Beastmaster job quests, Capture / Bestiary play, and non-ranking Crucible boards remain the published live loop
  • Remnants of resilience farming and Kornago merchant exchanges are not called out as disabled in the delay post
  • AAC Heavyweight Tier (Savage) adjustments in 7.56: treasure coffers always appear with no reward reduction, weekly coffer and entrance restrictions removed, players may proceed to any match, and a 12% Echo applies at pull (HP / damage / healing) without ramping on full wipes
  • Weekly Allagan tomestones of mnemonics cap raised 450 → 900 (2,000 store max unchanged)
  • Windurst: The Third Walk added to Alliance Raid Roulette
  • Lodestone-listed Beastmaster / Crucible known issues in the 7.56 notes (Snarl help text, Board Layout enemy graphics, mid-jump indicators, Stone Curse movement, mogsong Burst edge case, earring icon) are separate from the ranking postponement — Softcap does not treat them as the delay’s root-cause list

Softcap’s read

24 September was never going to be a silent maintenance day for Beastmaster mains chasing Tourmaline Golem — it was the published Season 1 gun. Square Enix pulled that gun intentionally, in public, on fairness grounds tied to combat balance and mechanics bugs. Until Lodestone posts a new start date, third-degree “Participate in rankings” clears do not feed a live ladder, and Softcap will not invent a return week.

What players can still do without Softcap guessing: keep leveling Beastmaster, clearing Crucible boards for remnants and familiar beast ranks, and watching the Crucible Rankings hub and Lodestone topics for the Confirmed Season 1 start. When that post lands, Softcap’s follow-up is a new Confirmed primary — not a rewrite of this delay.
