The Witcher 3 Remastered launches September 29 — Songs of the Past first look

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered launches on September 29, 2026, CD PROJEKT RED confirmed in a 25 August 2026 press release. Existing owners on qualifying platforms get the remaster as a free upgrade. The same day, the game arrives natively on Nintendo Switch 2 and, through a new partnership with Blizzard Entertainment, on Battle.net — both firsts for the 2015 open-world RPG.

That gamescom Opening Night Live package also teased Songs of the Past, a paid expansion due in 2027 that sends Geralt to the new realm of Letten. Wishlist pages are live on select platforms now. What Remastered upgrades

CDPR’s announcement trailer and press copy frame Remastered as a full-adventure polish pass — not a new story campaign. Players get the entire epic with upgraded visuals, performance, and gameplay, plus a published list of systems work:

• Improved traversal and movement
• New witcher signs effects
• Revamped mount handling
• Enhanced monster behaviors
• A skill tree revamp
• Transmogrification
• Expanded photo mode
• New finishers
• “And much more,” in the studio’s words

The press does not publish per-platform frame-rate targets, resolution tables, or a numbered skill-tree changelog in that primary — those are not filled in here.

Remastered ships on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. For the first time, a native version also lands on Nintendo Switch 2 on September 29, with pre-orders already open per the press note. The Battle.net build lands the same day under the new CDPR–Blizzard partnership.

Songs of the Past: Letten in 2027

A separate teasers reel at gamescom Opening Night Live introduced Songs of the Past and its brand-new region, Letten. CDPR describes Letten as an idyllic land rich in rural tradition and folklore, where people enjoy bountiful harvests and lavish festivals — with a dark secret beneath the surface. Geralt must overcome never-before-seen foes and a long-dormant evil.

Songs of the Past launches in 2027 as a paid expansion for The Witcher 3 on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. It is available to wishlist now across select platforms. CDPR is co-developing the expansion with Fool’s Theory, a studio whose leadership includes Witcher 3 veterans. Remastered itself is co-developed with Yigsoft, which CDPR says already has Witcher 3 track record (including Complete Edition work in Yigsoft’s own about blurb on the press page).

During gamescom, CDPR hosted guided presentations of Songs of the Past and Remastered in Hall 8.1; REDstreams on YouTube and Twitch covered the same topics for remote viewers. Those event windows are past for this countdown slot — the durable facts are the 2027 expansion window, Letten, wishlist availability, and the co-dev credits.

Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine — free for current owners

As an on-stage gamescom Opening Night Live surprise — announced by host Geoff Keighley — all current owners of The Witcher 3 gained access to the original two expansions, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, at no additional cost. CDPR’s press frames that drop as live from the announcement day so owners can play both expansions ahead of Remastered’s September launch.

Battle.net partnership and the Diablo IV Geralt skin

CDPR and Blizzard Entertainment are bringing The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered and Songs of the Past to Battle.net. Remastered launches there on September 29, 2026, alongside the other platforms.

Players who purchase the expansion on Blizzard’s platform unlock a Geralt-inspired skin in Diablo IV. CDPR’s press says further details land when the studio attends BlizzCon in September. The Beyond the Game Blog partnership post adds that the skin becomes available when pre-purchase opens for Songs of the Past on Battle.net for anyone who buys the expansion, and that later buyers who purchase Songs of the Past at full launch next year also get the skin. Softcap treats BlizzCon reveal specifics beyond that as still pending the event.

Publisher scorecard (attributed)

CDPR’s press “About” block states that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has won over 250 Game of the Year awards and sold more than 65 million copies worldwide. Those are publisher claims from the 25 August release — Softcap reports them as such, not as independently audited Softcap counts.
