Everwind Winds of Creation explained: Sandbox Mode, Bandits, Localizer, and the last world wipe
Enjoy Studio and Bohemia Interactive shipped Winds of Creation & Beyond for Everwind on Thursday 24 September 2026 — the Early Access title’s second major update. Softcap’s explainer sticks to the studio’s Steam launch post and Bohemia’s same-day Games Press release: Sandbox Mode, a permanent World Save System, Bandits, the Steamer Localizer, Claws and Staffs, new Jungle bosses, and a long QoL / bug sheet.
Games Press cites more than 300,000 copies sold and over 1.2 million Steam wishlists. Softcap is not inventing concurrent or review figures beyond that press line.

World Save System — last wipe
Steam’s opener is systems, not cosmetics: worlds will no longer require conversion after future updates. Existing worlds are preserved; new content generates in unexplored chunks. Enjoy Studio calls this the final update that requires a world wipe. Softcap is not inventing migration tools or seed guarantees beyond that rule.
Sandbox Mode
Sandbox Mode is the community-request flag. Published kit:
- Dedicated Sandbox Inventory with unlimited access to all currently available items
- Chat commands for gameplay controls (PCGamesN summarizes time-of-day, weather, spawn tests — Softcap treats the Steam list as Confirmed and does not invent a command table Steam omitted)
- One Island generation — single biome island, no building boundaries
- Sandbox Islands — structure-free islands for build/test
- Debug Info shows item IDs on hover for Sandbox Inventory search
Bandit faction
Bandits are a new aggressive human faction currently inhabiting the Forest biome, with new surface structures, dungeons, furniture, equipment, and the Big War Horn instrument. Steam says more Bandit factions may land in other biomes later. PCGamesN names ally-buffing Hornblowers and a Necromancer miniboss in secondary coverage — Softcap sticks to Steam’s Confirmed Bandit scope for combat kits.
Steamer Localizer
The Localizer is a Mechanism that finds islands, objects, bosses, and other entities via Localizer Cassettes. Cassettes come from several sources including the new Navigator merchant; the Localizer recipe appears on the Starting Island and in shipwrecks. Steam frames it as one of the most-requested exploration gadgets.
Bosses, wildlife, weapons
| Addition | Published placement |
|---|---|
| Goruk | Grimverd mini-boss — Jungle villages and dungeons |
| Apex | Spinejaw boss — special Jungle arenas |
| Spinejaw Alpha | New Spinejaw creature |
| Vultures / Parrots | Desert and Jungle wildlife |
| Explosive Barrels | Ignite after damage, then explode |
Claws are a new fast dagger-based melee type. New Staffs drop elemental-less kits focused on pure Magic Damage — first Staff on the Starting Island as an Arcanist intro. New Apex and Goruk arrows carry dedicated special effects.
Published unique items: Golden Fury bow, Apex Claws, AW-51 Helmet, Last Serviceman Top Hat, Astral Robe, Scarlet Feather Ring. Also: Rotten Wood Chests, more trophies (including newly introduced entities), pettable Capybaras (with placeable tangerines), and shields displayable on Tool Stands.
Starter island and progression QoL
Starter Island and Starter Tower are rebuilt; a dedicated Arcanist building lands on the starter island. Island-visit detection now requires physically standing on an island — flying a ship through no longer counts.
Other Confirmed QoL Softcap is flagging:
- Level-up fully restores HP and Stamina
- Plants cannot be accidentally harvested before fully grown (Games Press); pot plants need a Shovel to remove plant+dirt while fruit still interacts normally (Steam)
- Recipes are no longer consumed on use and can be processed back into paper
- No dropping items while Gliding (blocks accidental mid-flight loss)
- Enemy difficulty shows a skull icon; enemy naming refreshed
- Lifesteal reworked to restore a percentage of max HP on kill
- Hand attacks 50% faster; axe/pick/shovel animations 17% faster
- Winter islands no longer generate above 2,000 blocks (ALT 3 prep)
- Merchants stop buying cheapest junk (sticks, stones)
- Paper crafting recipe added; keybinds removable in settings
Bug fixes Softcap is calling out
Steam’s bug list is long. Softcap’s reader-facing subset:
- P2P inventory save after host disconnect (loss/dupe reduction)
- World stutter for clients during ship travel; distant islands correctly hidden
- Enemy pathfinding FPS spikes; animals freezing on islands
- Placeable-object overhaul (placement, collisions, icons, SFX)
- Invisibility properly clears aggro; Backstab with bows fixed
- Melee no longer pauses passive regen; dagger double-hit cases fixed
- Dropped items no longer randomly invisible for clients
Softcap is not inventing repro steps beyond those published lines.
Why it matters
Winds of Creation is a systems and sandbox day for an Early Access sky-survival RPG: the permanent save promise, Sandbox Mode, and Localizer are the three playable flags; Bandits / Claws / Jungle bosses are the content flags. Softcap is not inventing “Minecraft killer” framing — Enjoy Studio’s own sandbox pitch is the Confirmed language.
What to watch next
Whether the final wipe sticks cleanly for converted worlds, how fast Sandbox chat-command tools expand (Enjoy Studio says the mode will keep growing), and any same-week hotfix traffic on P2P inventory or placeable-object edge cases.
