Diablo IV Hotfix 4: Tristram portal fixed, Council loot gated, infinite Butcher closed

Diablo IV Season of Hell’s Legacy press still — a red demonic boss in a circular stone arena ringed by tentacles and crimson energy

Blizzard posted Hotfix 4 for Diablo IV patch 3.2.1 on 22 September 2026 — a Season of Hell’s Legacy cleanup that restores a blocked Tristram portal, raises the Prime Evil Council’s loot cadence, and closes an infinite Butcher spawn. The list below follows the forum hotfix post. Blizzard did not publish a numeric Council loot cooldown; that gap stays a gap.

What landed (per Blizzard)

FixWhat it means
Tristram fountain + Wirt’s Lucky CoinsCoins no longer get consumed without opening the portal
Prime Evil CouncilExcessive XP/loot farm addressed; loot cooldown increased (no timer published)
The ButcherInfinite spawn path closed
Warlock — Fiend of Abaddon Lesser Demon BonusUnintended damage fixed; developer update says the upgrade is re-enabled
Druid — Old Mountain Talisman 5-set + GriefUnintended damage interaction fixed
Switch 2Lord of Hatred variant skills usable again
Class questsVarious blocked quests unstuck
Kurast Undercity TributesHoradric Cube crafting materials reward path fixed
Seasonal Reputation Resplendent CacheNow grants a Resplendent Spark

Tristram portal: coins that actually open a gate

Secret Tristram runners had a hard failure mode: the fountain ate Wirt’s Lucky Coins and never opened a portal. Hotfix 4 restores the intended coin → portal path. If you burned coins into a dead fountain before the fix, Blizzard’s post does not describe a refund — it describes the bug as fixed going forward.

Council loot cadence and the Butcher loop

Blizzard says players could use the Prime Evil Council fight for excessive experience and loot. The hotfix increases the cooldown for the Council granting loot. No seconds or minutes appear in the forum post, so none are invented here.

Separately, The Butcher could be spawned infinitely. That path is closed. Together with the Council change, Hotfix 4 is Blizzard’s hose on two of the season’s obvious farm outs — without publishing the new Council timer.

Class and platform corrections

Warlock: Fiend of Abaddon’s Lesser Demon Bonus upgrade dealt unintended damage. Blizzard fixed that and, in a developer update on the same post, says the upgrade has been re-enabled.

Druid: The 5-set bonus for Old Mountain Talisman combined with Grief produced unintended damage. That interaction is fixed.

Nintendo Switch 2: Variant skills added with the Lord of Hatred expansion were unusable; they work again.

Class quests: Various blocked quest completions are unstuck.

Kurast Undercity Tributes: Horadric Cube crafting materials were not being rewarded with their associated Tributes; that reward path is fixed.

Seasonal Reputation: The Resplendent Cache from Seasonal Reputation now grants a Resplendent Spark.

Who it hits

Secret-Tristram chasers who burned coins into a dead fountain; anyone slamming Prime Evil Council or Butcher loops for XP/loot; Warlock and Druid players on the listed interactions; Switch 2 expansion owners locked out of variant skills; reputation grinders missing Sparks from the Resplendent Cache.

Why it matters

This is not a balance pass with aura percentages. It is Blizzard using the hotfix hose to restore intended season beats (Tristram portal, Spark payout) and shut down two farm outs (Council loot cadence, infinite Butcher). The forum wording is reported as published — not a claim that every exploit path is gone, and not a guess at the new Council timer.

What to watch next

Whether Blizzard publishes a numeric Council loot cooldown, follow-up class damage notes after the Warlock re-enable, and any Hotfix 5 entries on the same 3.2.1 line.
