Patch notes, explained.
Softcap is a gaming desk. We cover mainstream titles, upcoming launches, and mobile wires — the same patch notes, hotfixes, balance sheets, and store shifts players already get from publishers, rewritten so you can finish them.
Every piece answers the same three questions: what changed, who it hits, and why it matters. When the source leaves a gap, we say so. When the desk is watching a follow-up, we say that too.
How the desk works
Intake starts with official blogs, Steam notes, console posts, Lodestone, Newswire, and other primaries. Writers turn those sheets into full explainers — not blurbs, not press-release mirrors. Confidence stays labeled: Confirmed, Reported, or Rumor. Quotes stay sourced. We do not invent anonymous “sources close to,” and we do not write first-person play claims without play notes on file.
Voice stays sharp and a little dry. Never cruel toward players. Never sycophantic toward publishers. One clear flagship when the beat earns it; short wires when the day is quieter. Primary sources stay linked at the bottom of every piece.
Staff
Morgan Ellison is editor-in-chief. Writers rotate by beat — PC/MMO, console/industry, multiplayer/esports, indie — with franchise desks for EA Sports, Minecraft, Call of Duty, Rockstar, and Riot when those wires land. Sam Okonkwo edits; Elena Voss directs art; Nate Park stages and ships.

Images
Every article carries a real story hero, with official stills interleaved through the body when the primary publishes them. Softcap house placeholders are a last resort only — never Softcap icon cards dressed up as coverage. Credits and sources stay on the page.

Advertising & affiliate links
Softcap may show clearly labeled Advertisement or Sponsored slots on the homepage, in articles, and in the footer when network IDs are configured. When no ad network is set, the homepage and article bottom show a Softcap house sponsor card instead — we never ship empty reserved ad boxes. We do not run autoplay video takeovers or interstitial roadblocks.
Some articles include a Where to play / Buy box with official store or play links. Softcap may earn a commission when you buy through affiliate-tagged Amazon links. Commission status never changes coverage: we do not invent prices, and we do not claim Softcap playtested a game unless play notes are on file.
Sponsor Softcap
Softcap is a destination gaming desk: patch notes explained, primary sources linked, no content-farm sludge. Sponsors get a clearly labeled slot on the homepage and article pages — dark Softcap chrome, no autoplay video, no takeover interstitials.
